Casa Finch was designed by someone who lives in it, which is the first thing you notice. It is not a rental dressed up for photographs; it is a home that happens to be perfect for a small group, built by a designer for a very specific reason — the view.
The house sits on the very top of its hill, low and long, so it seems to belong to the ridge rather than sit on it. The exterior is glass and steel and warm wood; from a distance it reads as a lit pavilion floating above the valley. Inside, the timber ceilings and plaster keep it grounded and warm.
Built around the sightline
Every important room — the great room, the kitchen, the primary suite — is glazed floor to ceiling and turned west, toward the vineyards and the sunset. There is almost nowhere in the house you cannot see the valley. That single decision shapes everything: where you eat, where the bed faces, where the pool stops.
The rest follows the same logic. Interior gardens bring the landscape inside. A fireplace answers the cool desert nights. The pool runs to the edge of the hill so the water seems to spill into the valley. Nothing is decorative for its own sake; every move serves the view or the quiet.
You feel it most at dusk, when the glass turns the whole west wall into a moving painting and the house does exactly what it was built to do.
