Valle de Guadalupe, in the municipality of Ensenada, is where roughly seventy percent of Mexico's wine is made — more than two hundred wineries scattered across a dry, golden valley about twenty kilometers inland from the Pacific. It is close and it is wild: farm-to-table tables under the oaks, tasting rooms carved into the rock, and long straight roads between the vines. Casa Finch sits above all of it. Cross at San Ysidro and follow the coast highway south, or fly into Tijuana (TIJ) and drive about ninety minutes along the Ruta del Vino (MEX-3). Ensenada and the Pacific are twenty minutes down the hill. We can arrange private transport and a driver for the day so no one has to think about the road.

The valley eats extraordinarily well. Deckman's en El Mogor built the farm-to-table scene; Finca Altozano and Animalón, both from chef Javier Plascencia, cook over wood under the open sky; Corazón de Tierra and the Michelin-starred Fauna are destinations in their own right. Reservations matter here — give us a few days' notice and we will hold the table.
Harvest is the high season.
Late July through August brings the Fiestas de la Vendimia — weeks of harvest events, tastings and long lunches that have run for more than thirty-five years. Spring and fall are quieter and green; winter is cool and clear, and the house lights its fire. There is no wrong month on this hill, only different light.
